Lending a hand is in Eddie’s nature and volunteering is something he fell in love with. Over the years, Eddie has volunteered several times in India helping an orphanage provide schooling to children.
This is where his passion grew to help others and so in 2019, he became a part of our volunteer family.
Eddie got involved after seeing an advertisement for a shuttle bus driver needed with us at Ronald McDonald House North Fitzroy. Since then, he has never looked back and has enjoyed being a part of our supportive community.
Eddie supports RMHC VIC & TAS families by transporting them to and from various metro destinations like the airport, hospital, supermarket, shops or wherever they need to go while their child is in hospital, and they are far from home. Eddie has also helped at our important fundraising events.
Although shuttle bus driving is Eddie’s main volunteering role, he helps out with electrical repairs, gardening, and odd jobs that are essential around the House.
“For me, everyday volunteering is a highlight as it offers something different, challenging and rewarding.”
Eddie always planned to volunteer after leaving his working life and is now semi-retired. He enjoys spending his time volunteering with us and of course with his family and fur baby Murphy.
“Being part of a charity that provides so much support and constantly meeting new people is the best part of volunteering.”
